Tarpon fishing-the sport of millionaires as it is called, is truly a sport rather than a way to get a meal. You will NOT want to eat the tarpon. I saw one in the surf with a bull shark once, and the shark wasn’t trying to eat it (also attributable to the abundance of bait fish which they were eating). My state- Alabama has some of the most liberal game laws on everything, and they require a prepurchased $50.00 tag to harvest one. Dont know why you would, though. But I cant argue their entertainment value. By the way, they are our state fish and the state record was caught across the street from my house.

Some restaurants serve a whole trout that is butterflied open without the bones. What’s the easiest way to do this?

I hope I can explain without pictures! I assume you are starting with a head on , cleaned trout from the supermarket. Take your trout, lay it on a cutting board on it’s back. Take a very sharp knife, and sever the spinal cord just below the head. Take the top of the cord in your left hand (if you are a rightie) and pull the spinal cord away. The small bones should come with the spinal chord, but if they don’t, or something gets stuck, use your sharp knife. The small bones are all in a neat row, so if you have to, you can cut just above them with your very sharp knife (notice I keep mentioning a sharp (that’s very sharp) knife) All the bones should come away in one piece; the spinal cord and two rows of bones, one from each side.Be sure you sever the cord before the tail, so you don’t pull the tail off. That’s all there is to it.

My dad is a civil-servant of 30 years standing. He thinks that the Muslims’ parents are deliberately telling their kids to do the civil service test,on the orders of old men who are high up in mosques,etc.-even though a lot of the young guys are clearly unsuited to the work. Why are so many of them deliberately targeting these jobs, when no-one else seems to bother?

No

My father owns a movie theater and his head projectionist has to be out of work because of a death in the family. How difficult is it to splice film?

You should have a jig that holds the two pieces of film in a channel with pins that keep the holes precisely spaced. The two pieces of film are placed overlapping and a razor is pulled through a slot to make a butt cut and the two fragments are pulled out. A piece of special thin clear tape is put across the joint.

Was just wondering how long the actual season is for the guys. Do they go back out more than once a year or what?

King crab season is about three weeks in November and Opilio Season is about ten days in January. Of course this is subjected to change every year due to how the crabs are breeding and such. They can make anywhere from 10,000 to 35,000 during each season so at most maybe $70,000 with both seasons pulled together. That’s per man on boat too.

I am going fishing with my uncle. We decided on marlin fishing. What kind of bait would I use. Please answer quick, I want to surprise him.

Marlin (depending on the species) are big fish, so in general you need big baits or lures. If you’re going out on a charter boat after marlin, the boat will have whatever you need. On these boats, the fight is generally done in a fighting chair, which is designed to allow a maximum amount of pulling, so I’m sure a 12-year old could handle it.

I’ve caught striped marlin in the 100 pound class on mackerel 10 to 12 inches long, except for one I got on a 6 inch sardine when fishing for tuna. Off Southern California and Baja, it’s common to cast a live bait for marlin, in other parts of the world it’s more common to troll large skirted lures.

I am doing a 3rd floor renovation and I built a block and tackle to raise and lower equipment, trash, etc. The rope that I bought was cheap but it keeps getting bunched and twisted. What is the right kind of rope to use in this device?

Braided rope is your best bet, but not the cheap stuff. Go to a place that sells rope for boats and get the good stuff. It won’t be cheap but will be much safer and easier to use than poor quality rope which is pretty much all you get in building supply stores. While you’re buying it, get a quick lesson on how to treat rope properly. Looking after it will prolong its life and help prevent tangles.

Hi, i have five carp witch are about 8 cm and my question is how many times a day should i feed them???

This webpage should really help you out with information on your fish!

I would be friends with Grace because she has good values and upbringing, and know who she is in Jesus Christ.

That’s a really good question. I would be friends with Ben, Grace, and Amy, and Grace’s brother. I like all three characters. I would stay away from Adrian and Ricky……lol

I got some bomber-like lures at an auction the other day and i am trying to figure out how deep they will dive at 1 mph for trolling walleye. They have large bills on them so i assume they will dive deep. Is there any type of equation (example: 1/2 inch of bill for 10 feet of depth) to help me figure this out. I live on lake erie and lure depth can be critical! THANX!

Large bills will dive deeper, but wobble harder too.
I use a Rapala and put a slip sinker very Small on the top bill through the line. It doesn’t interfere with your action and you get more depth.

I have also drilled a 1/4 in che hole just adjacent behind the bill underneath the Rapala about 1/4 inch deep. Then melted some lead and poured it in there. That works real good.
