should i get the gary fisher tarpon or trek 4300?
28.August, 2009
im getting a new bike and i want to know which bike is better
Those two bikes are nearly identical, and it’s going to come down to which you like better. Sit on them. Ride them in a few circles. I stick to Trek because they never steer me wrong, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about GF. It’s win-win.
I saw some trout, like pretty big ones too maybe 1.5 feet long, in a shallow mountain pond. deepest point at maybe 2 feet deep, 9000 feet in the mountains.
i’m just curious as to what happens to the trout when the pond freezes over in the colorado winter. the pond definatly will freeze, do the fish just go with it and wake up in spring?
Most fish escape to deeper waters before the freeze over and continue doing what fish do. Some hibernate and some, well they just end up being bear food in the spring.
How does the angle at which sunlight strikes Earth’s surface affect the intensity of the sunlight?
28.August, 2009
A The angle at which sunlight strikes Earth’s surface does not affect the intensity of the sunlight.
B As the angle of insolation increases, the intensity of sunlight decreases.
C As the angle of insolation decreases, the intensity of sunlight increases.
D As the angle of insolation decreases, the intensity of sunlight decreases.
Imagine you have a pellet gun and a smooth, expansive and extremely level cement floor. The gun is the sun, the kinetic energy of the fired pellet is the energy of the sun.
If you were to fire the pellet at a 90 degree angle to the floor, there will be a noticeable impact mark on the floor, as nearly all of the energy of the pellet is focused on a very small area.
Now lets say you aim the gun at a two degree angle to the floor. When the pellet reaches the floor, the same amount of energy it would have directed at the 90 degree angle shot is instead dissipated over several meters (as opposed to a focused point), leaving no intense impact mark.
This is much like the sun.
It can be offensively, pitching, or defensively. Reed Johnson and Sam Fuld seem to make a diving catch or bang into the wall every day. Who on your team seems to always make the highlight reel?
Only players that make ESPN every time they do something good is Grady Sizemore…
and that’s it.
what happened to the buildings in fisherman’s wharf in san francisco in the 1989 earthquake and why did this happen?
There was minor damage, but not like what happened in the Marina.
Most new commercial structures on the Wharf are built on concrete piers which extend deep into the Bay Mud and often hit bedrock. The Marina homes were on landfill as well, but not anchored well and suffered from the liquefaction.
What is a good way to eliminate flies using a bait?
28.August, 2009
I’m worried about the damage that insecticide’s can make on my 1 year old daughter and I would like to kill flies with come kind of trap using maybe a bait of sugar. Any ideas?
I know this paper strips I have been using them, however Walmart has removed this products from the store for some reason in my country.
they still make fly paper i believe. if you are trapping fruit flies put sugar and beer in a jar with one hole poked in the top. they get in but cant get out.

what has my koi carp got and how do i cure it?
28.August, 2009
hi i have just noticed that my 20 inch koi carp has white spots on him , only on his fines what treatment can i buy or has any one any home remedies thanks su…..
Might be carp pox. If it looks like waxy bumps or pimples, is mainly on the fins, and only appears in cooler weather/water, it is most certainly pox (though skin cancer is not unheard of in koi….). The pox looks ugly, but is fairly harmless, and will go away on it’s own once the water warms up. If you want to speed up this treatment, heat the water no faster than 1 degree per hour, up to 85 degrees F (any warmer than that and you will end up with fish soup!).
According to koivet.com (a website run by a veterinarian specializing in the care and keeping of koi and goldfish), here is a perfect "shot gun" remedy that will not harm the fish:
"Here’s a perfect shotgun remedy that won’t hurt fish:
(1) Salt to 0.3 or 0.6%
(2) Warm the fish no faster than one degree per hour, up to the mid seventies, or if you want to combat Koi Herpes Virus, use the same "one degree per hour" heating from their ambient temperature up to 86oF
(3) MediKoi food is, in my estimation, by far the best made, best formulated medicated food. It will help control bacterial infections.
(4) Dimilin handily controls comparatively rare but large parasites like Anchor Worms and Fish Lice.
(5) Prazi or Prazi containing medications control Flukes on Koi and Goldfish best.
Using all of the above at the same time can be highly successful against most parasitisms and infections. The space in which this is done should be the largest possible (100+ gallons), with plenty of hiding-cover, algae or live plants, and plenty of water turnover for aeration."
Personally, I do the above only I don’t bother with the heating, and I substitute Pro-Form C (basically, formalin) for the Dimilin. Also, I like the powdered form of the Praziquantel, not the "fake" liquid prazi.
Hope this helps – good luck!
How do motorcycle clubs get chapters (charters) ?
28.August, 2009
My friends and i are making an essay about motorcycle clubs and we will like to add how do MC get chapters or (charters) ? If you have an idea or know please help us out.
For "non-1%er" clubs like HOG and the like, applying for a charter may be as easy as phoning their head office for information or sending an email to their webmaster.
However, for outlaw motorcycle clubs, this is not an easy thing to do for just anyone. The real motorcycle clubs out there are very tight knit brotherhoods and to even contemplate applying for a charter you would need to be a well known member in good standing with the respective club.
The place where you are applying for would have to have no existing chapter of said club and sufficient members and prospective members in place to make a new chapter worth while. An example would be most major towns or cities, one would not be able to just apply for a charter for "Hells Angels" there because chances are that a chapter already exists there.
A fair number of clubs also frown upon "big noting" ones self. One could not apply for new charter for a chapter just because they want to "be the president of their own club". The new charter would have to be in the best interests of the club in whole, not just the individual and his friends.
Most outlaw motorcycle clubs do not expand by granting new charters to just anyone. The normal thing to do is to "move in" to a town or city by taking over an already existing club. The existing club is offered to "patch with us or disband completely".
In this way the biker "way of life" is preserved because they are just changing the name of a club who’s lifestyle or way of life is already the same as theirs.
The existing members of the club which has been taken over (if they choose to stay) are granted "probationary" or "prospect" status for the new club and a well respected member of the takeover club and probably some of his patched brothers would take the role of the hierarchy administrate the club until everything has settled.
So in summary the answer to "How do you get a motorcycle club charter?" is
- Join a motorcycle club.
- Put in years of loyalty to your club and brothers.
- Prove yourself worthy of respect to your club and brothers.
Once you have done that, you would take one of two routes from there . . .
- Go to a town that already has a motorcycle club and take them over in the name of your club.
- Move to a town that does not already have an existing chapter of your club and try to set up shop.
Once you have done that, you have to make the club survive.
- If there are other clubs in that area they may not be happy that a new club has sprouted up in their back yard.
- The police may not like that there is a new club in town and get "this town ain’t big enough for the two of us" syndrome.
Sounds easy doesn’t it?
What lures works best in Boundary Waters canoe area?
28.August, 2009
HI all, I’m going the the BWCA this wednesday and am wondering what is the best lures are for the bass and northern. Last time I went we had a group of 6 people and we caught one fish in 4 days. I really don’t want to repeat that situation.
Try a jig spinner with gulp. Also take along a fe extra jigs and a few rapala’s. Have fun there.
