Besides cheese, what is good to bait a mousetrap?

I know that cheese and peanut butter work well. Are there any other items to use to bait a mousetrap?
a tiny dab of pb or honey then stick a bit of oatmeal or a cornflake to it.

Cheese doesn’t really work that well…thats from the cartoons. Peanut butter is easiest because you can spread it on the trigger.

Honey is good. It runs a little, but they have to lick the trap harder than they do for penut butter to get it off. Also, penut butter can come off in a clump, where as honey or pancake syrup won’t.

First you bait the mouse cheese is not the best bait, peanut butter is fine cereal granola works also, but first you feed them without setting the trap let them eat it for a couple of days then set the trap you’ll get better results also set a few traps as you may have more than one mouse, also they tend to hang out in the insulation so set your traps in the basement if you have insulation up in the ceiling of your basement. and the best thing you can get is a cat.

Most folks will say peanut butter, but those little buggers will lick that stuff right off the trap. The best bait to use is a real peanut….and you wedge it in the bait part. Then make sure the trap will snap TOWARDS THE WALL. This traps the mouse….often times the trap will spring away from the mouse and not kill it. Good luck.

usually PB is best, but I’ve used bologna when PB or Cheese doesn’t work. Maybe every so often there is a carnivore in the house. When you load the bologna, make sure you take a section with the outer rind and wrap a little of the rind around the little hook part. It makes it alot harder to steal the bait.
I’ve also heard that catfish bait works, but I’ve never tried it myself.
