I am going fishing with my uncle. We decided on marlin fishing. What kind of bait would I use. Please answer quick, I want to surprise him.

Marlin (depending on the species) are big fish, so in general you need big baits or lures. If you’re going out on a charter boat after marlin, the boat will have whatever you need. On these boats, the fight is generally done in a fighting chair, which is designed to allow a maximum amount of pulling, so I’m sure a 12-year old could handle it.

I’ve caught striped marlin in the 100 pound class on mackerel 10 to 12 inches long, except for one I got on a 6 inch sardine when fishing for tuna. Off Southern California and Baja, it’s common to cast a live bait for marlin, in other parts of the world it’s more common to troll large skirted lures.

As long as you are with a adult but I would say a big fit person is required for this type of fishing as you never know the size of fish you have hooked. I would always say over 16 to 18 but this is your decision.
