You stand 1.25 m in front of a wall and gaze downward at a small vertical mirror mounted on it. In this mirror you can see the reflection of your shoes. If your eyes are 1.45 m above your feet, through what angle should the mirror be tilted for you to see your eyes reflected in the mirror? (The location of the mirror remains the same, only its angle to the vertical is changed.)

Tan(angle) = (1.45/2)/1.25 = .58 > angle = 30.1 degrees

This is what I think it is:

The critical angle is the angle in which the angle of incidence increases, so the refracted angle (ray of light going through glass) bends closer and closer to the surface, so it travels along the surface.
TIR is when the incidence angle is greater than the critical angle, so the ray of light can no longer travel through the surface, and it reflects back in.

Is this correct? Just checking, because I have a science exam tomorrow.

Thanks a lot.

Yes absolutely right.

Critical angle is "the angle of incidence" at which the refracted ray emerges parallel to the refractive surface.i.e., angle of refraction = 90

Rest is correct.

They used to hold a fair with rides and they haven’t done that in ages! It was awsome too!

no, never ever ever again

A The angle at which sunlight strikes Earth’s surface does not affect the intensity of the sunlight.
B As the angle of insolation increases, the intensity of sunlight decreases.
C As the angle of insolation decreases, the intensity of sunlight increases.
D As the angle of insolation decreases, the intensity of sunlight decreases.

Imagine you have a pellet gun and a smooth, expansive and extremely level cement floor. The gun is the sun, the kinetic energy of the fired pellet is the energy of the sun.

If you were to fire the pellet at a 90 degree angle to the floor, there will be a noticeable impact mark on the floor, as nearly all of the energy of the pellet is focused on a very small area.

Now lets say you aim the gun at a two degree angle to the floor. When the pellet reaches the floor, the same amount of energy it would have directed at the 90 degree angle shot is instead dissipated over several meters (as opposed to a focused point), leaving no intense impact mark.

This is much like the sun.

I made a boomerang from what i saw on the internet, but the angle is really small. It is a two legged boomerang and i haven’t tried it out yet. But how does the angle affect its flight and does having a small angle mess it up? I’ll say the angle is little more then 45 degrees.

Well, this is the aircraft section. I don’t know anyone who could answer that for you. Good luck.

In a quadrilateral each angle is double another angle. What are the measures of the angles?

Let the smallest angle be x degree.
then 2nd angle twice = 2 x degree.
3rd angle = 4 x degree.
4th angle = 8 x degree.
In quadrilateral sum of internal angles = 360 degree.
x + 2x +4x +8x = 360 degree.
15 x = 360 degree.
x = 24
angles are 24, 48, 96 and 192 degree.
