Gone Fishin’!

Squirrel Bait was a pop punk band that came out of nowhere in 1983 from of all places, Louisville, Kentucky. At first, the Squirrel Bait record released in 1985 by small indie label Homestead, did not cause much of a stir in the music world. But after receiving raving reviews from Bob Mould (then of Husker Du) and Evan Dando (of The Lemonheads) among others in the music press, people began to take notice. Spin Magazine quickly hopped on the bandwagon and proclaimed that lead singer Peter Searcy had the best voice in rock and roll next to Paul Westerberg. Even with all of these accolades, the band was able to only stay afloat until 1988 and release one more record, 1986s Skag Heaven. By then it seemed to be a case of too much too soon for the members of Squirrel Bait, considering that the average age of the band members at this time were an amazing 17.

I know that cheese and peanut butter work well. Are there any other items to use to bait a mousetrap?

a tiny dab of pb or honey then stick a bit of oatmeal or a cornflake to it.

We purchased a rat zapper but do want to use it until we know that it will not zap squirrels and chipmunks with the bait.
Just so you know, we live in Washington State. Washington State law requires that any varmint you trap must be killed. Non-lethal traps are not an potion

Get a regular rat trap or mouse trap..take a tiny piece of bacon and a twister tie ..put the bacon on the thing and wire it on.I just caught my 4th and hope the last mouse this way….

We have a mouse in our house. We tried d-con pellets, instant mashed potato flakes, and peanut butter scented glue traps. Finally, we put out 3 old-fashioned snap traps. This morning, when I went to check the three traps, the bait was gone from each trap, but none of them were set off. How is this possible? I know I set the traps the right way. Are there any other methods I could try to use to kill this pest?

Try slathering peanut butter on the trap before you set it. We had mice a few years ago, and didn’t get rid of them until we actually found out how they were getting in the house. They were climbing up a vine I had planted by the electric meter which has a hole into the house. Plug up all the little holes coming into your house too! They are tricky and can fit in teeny tiny places!

When do smalll Mackerel that are going to be used as bait start running in nj? Thanks

Tinker mackerels are caught during the summer on Long Island. Used to be tons of them in the water, now not so many. If there are any in your neck of the woods in New Jersey, they should be in the water now.

I will be fishing in fairly deep water from a public dock. When fishing with a floater what bait would work best? Or what lure would you recommend?

when float fishing i would put about two feet of line betwen the float and the hook, with one split shot up about 8 inches from the hook. for bait it’s hard to beat a garden worm or red wiggler. wax worms and crickets would work too. if you’re not getting bites at a certain depth just move the bobber up or down and experiment. as for lures a really small inline spinner or micro crankbait would be my go-to.

Im going pig hunting and wanted to make up some bait or attractant. was wondering what ingredients i should put together or if i should just buy some stuff.
