I live in Arlington, TX and i go to this lake sometimes. Can anybody help tell me which is the best bait to take there and where might i get it.

I am from Arlington TX and use to fish that lake all the time with my dad and uncle. We always used artificial baits but I am sure any local bait shop can sell you minnows or crayfish if you wanted to use live bait. We would fish the fence that is out in the water in front of the power plant. A pipe runs along that fence on the bottom and bass hang out down there. Our main lure was a Texas rigged worm in the purple with fire tail(red) color. We would throw along fence line and work along the bottom near that pipe and they would crush it. Its been 20 years since I have fished that lake so things may have changed a bit. Can’t recall any other lures we used just a good old plastic worm. Hope that helps good luck I miss fishing in Texas.

Journalist Barbara Ehrenreich decries corporate hiring practices for what she sees as an over-emphasis on upbeat, extroverted personalities, while overlooking such factors as creativity and skill.

—–

Author Barbara Ehrenreich discusses her book “Bait and Switch.”

In “Bait and Switch,” Barbara Ehrenreich goes back undercover to explore another hidden realm of the economy: the shadowy world of the white-collar unemployed. Armed with the plausible resume of a professional “in transition,” she attempts to land a “middle-class” job. She submits to career coaching, personality testing, and EST-like boot camps, and attends job fairs, networking events, and evangelical job-search ministries. She is proselytized, scammed, lectured, and – again and again – rejected.

“Bait and Switch” highlights the people who have done everything right – gotten college degrees, developed marketable skills, and built up impressive resumes – yet have become repeatedly vulnerable to financial disaster. There are few social supports for these newly disposable workers, Ehrenreich discovers, and little security even for those who have jobs. Worst of all, there is no honest reckoning with the inevitable consequences of the harsh new economy; rather, the jobless are persuaded that they have only themselves to blame. – Books Inc.

Barbara Ehrenreich is the author of thirteen books, including the New York Times bestseller “Nickel and Dimed.” A frequent contributor to the New York Times, Harpers, and the Progressive, she is a contributing writer to Time magazine. She lives in Florida.

I can’t stand getting packed and all without bait, and having to depend on myself being able to catch bait. So I need a surefire way, Which is the best? Probably a cast net, right?

A cast net is certainly effective, but I could never master throwing the darn things myself and believe me I tried. I have two methods that have very very seldom failed me when going after live bait.

1. use a Sabiki rig appropriate to the size of bait you are attempting to get. If you are not catching the bait fast enough try chumming the water a little bit or tip the hooks with small pieces of shrimp.

2. This was my favorite in California. By several size 20 gold treble hooks and tie them directly to the line. chum the water with finely ground shrimp or muscle and jig through the chum slick. The hooks are so small they barely get under the fishes scales and you can catch smelt, shiner perch, herring, queen fish amongst others.

Give this a try. You will not be dis appointed. A word of caution. On more than one occasion I have had large fish slam a bait fish while I was "catching bait." As usual, a big fish on such light tackle can be quite an experience. Enjoy and good luck catching.

for you experienced fisherman, what is the best or most recommended bait to use for these types of fish for fishing:

Catfish
Bass
and Carp

Thanks!

hey there, i can hook you up with the catfish and bass but carp ( i have never fished for them) around here, southeast ga, carp are not too much sought after. for the catfish chicken liver or stink bait (dough baits) bass a good jig with a craw fish trailer or a jerk bait or rubber worms work great. it is kinda hard to say exactly what would be best for you when it comes to bass because i dont know where you are the temps. or what type of water you fish but the lures that i listed are all good lures. drop me an email and i will give you the whole story about catching the ol kitty kitty fish. the ways that i rig for them and what i use and how. and so forth and so on. man i hope that helps you out a little. good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

I dont want to use power bait, as it attracts to much attention from the rangers and baliffs (floating and high visibility). Surely there are some natural alternatives out there? Ideally im looking for a recipee for a good dough or paste bait.
Ty in advance if you answer this question.

trout pellet paste is made using trout pellets, corn flour, an egg and vegatable oil this form a paste which will stay on the hook the oil content will help repel the water so it takes longer to break down thus staying on the hook longer

Hi i am wondering what is the best bait to use that will catch you a lot of fish and will get you some big ones as well like pellets what kind of pellets are good that are about £2 or £3 and are good.

I have used sardines and corn, both have worked well, but i would like to know if there is a better bait for racoons in live traps.Thanks.

The trick when trapping any animal is to do your homework first, and thats to watch and find out what they like best, there activitys, there curiosity, and things unexpected.
Ounce you have that figured out then the traping begins
