I have been looking a the Carp-Porter Fat boy, Fat-boy low loader and the Mark 2. Also a barrow by Daiwa. It needs to be easy to fold up, take the wheel of and not too heavy.

I laugh at how much stuff some carp anglers take with them, now I know how life is with them these days.
At Tring reservoirs (Startops) a while back I had to manouvre the wheelchair I was pushing my Mother around in right in to the hedge to allow a guy with a massively-loaded barrow covered with a tarp to get past on a narrow part of the path. Always happens doesn’t it? Couldn’t have turned up at a wide bit, haha.
I thought he might be a builder, come to repair the bird-watching platform we had just passed, which had "Danger-No Entry" signs and a tape across it.
A minute later I saw a carp tent, or ‘bivvie’ as they call them. Not in my book. A bivvie is less than a third of the size of tent this guy had. I’m a fell walker and touring cyclist, used to camping wild on mountains and moorland. Love it.
What he had around was more than I would have in a camp for a month!
If I go for trout or carp in our local reservoirs or for salmon in the couple of decent swims we have, everything but the rods goes in a rucksack and a small tackle bag. That includes a tent and sleeping bag for over-nights, and food, and a stove and spare fuel, washing kit and towel, a book to read, and the photo gear and binos.
I travel light, not frugal.
I get set up away from the water and move with stealth. (Lovely word that isn’t it? All creepy and spies and things. Military career, see. And an opportunistic camper, well hidden, and safe)
That guy had a construction site!
Green in colour, fine, but looming high at the edge of the water, and very obvious.
No wonder they take ages getting a fish! And then perhaps even use the time excuse as the reason for needing all that stuff.
Crazy!
I’m going for sea bass tomorrow, from a glorious beach twenty miles away in the north of the island I live on. On the piccie, behind the mist.
Family visit done for this month. Look forward to next.
Symmon’s Yat, I got planned, if the weather’s good.
Mum loves it there. Not mentioning fishing, oh no. There for the scenery.
And she really does love it.
But I’ll have a bag with me, hint hint.
Well, you do don’t you? Fishing again? Tut tut!
The bag’s all ready for tomorrow, all but the food and water barrel. It weighs about fifteen pounds, twenty or a bit over when the food and water are in.
Everything for a day and an overnight on the beach for wildlife photography and fishing, coffee making, and freshly-cooked meals.
In a rucksack, a tackle bag, and a bag with two rods in.
Oh, and a pole and a sprung steel net-rim, sprung out flat. The rest of the net is collapsed, and in the rucksack.
Home made, that net. Takes almost no room at all.

There’s two yard long carp in my neighborhood pond and i can’t seem to catch them

use corn, make a stink bait with bread, or buy something for carp at a store

I really want to get some fresh boilies but cannot afford to buy in bulk. Prefer only 1kg at a time. Any tips on flavours appreciated also and if there is anyone who lives in Cornwall and can tell me where to find some big carp either on day ticket or membership that would be great.

Been out of the game about 2yrs and have moved counties so all feels new again.

Thanks to all in advance.

You can buy frozen boilies from most good tackle shops and they keep for ever if you refreeze them. Try richworth pinapple or the good old tutti fruities ones.
The cc moores live system are really doing the bizz in dorset also i am a big fan of mainlines activ8 range they were deigned by carp ace terry hearn and work really well for Carp, bream and barbel..

One is a bottom feeding, scum sucking, slimy low life, the other is a fish.

Why won’t a shark bite a lawyer - professional courtesy

What is a shame? - a busload of lawyers going off a cliff

What is a crying shame? - there was an empty seat on the bus

What is black and brown and looks good on a lawyer?
a Doberman Pinscher

How many lawyer’s jokes are there- just 5 - the rest are true stories.

What would happen if I ate a dogfish (bowfin) or a carp? Are they toxic, or do they just not taste good? I know largemouth bass don’t taste good, but how do these types of fish compare to largemouth bass?

Cook the carp over a fire on a piece of wood.

Then eat the piece of wood, it’ll taste better.

i am new to the carp fishing scene and want to try expander pellets.i got a bag of 6mm marine pellets.so whats the best way to use them?as hookbait or just as loose offerings?

You need a pump to go with it.
It injects water into them and takes the air out, this is what makes them expand.

They’re mainly used in pole fishing for carp due to the softness of them, you couldn’t cast them with a rod as they’d fly off the hook.

Does anyone know any decent carp fishing forums or article directories, I am tired of searching the web.

There’s plenty of forums. I’m not sure what you consider "decent". Heres a few links..You decide which is decent.

I have a smallish pond with Koi, goldfish, fancy, etc. In the last few weeks they have all spawned together and apparently as they are all carp they can crossbreed. I’ve separated the fry in a small pond lined with a net curtain and they seem to be doing well. My question concerns the problem of size, as I’ve got 300-400 fry and they are going to get too big soon. So when are they big enough to be safe back in the large pond with all the others? Quicker the better I think but I’d hate to see them all eaten! Extremely grateful for any advice. Thanks

My other half used to breed Koi, he’s away tonight but I’ll edit this with an answer for you tomorrow!

Edit as promised: "The other half speaking!"

Natural mortality will take care of the volume of fry. When the fry reach 15-18mm it’s safe for them to go back into the main water and the strong will survive.

Some points of interest;
Goldfish are the tarts of the fish kingdom and will mate and cross with anything, including Koi!
Carp is widely eaten in europe (Sunny has some nice recipes!)
Carp in Germany are considered vermin and you can be prosecuted and fined for putting them back in the water once caught.

I need some help from all my fellow anglers out there about catching Carp.As some of you know & have seen the pics of my other catches of Bass & Bluegill in the pond I fish in,I have yet to snag one of the huge Carp there.I’ve been trying just about all I know & still none caught to post.I’ve almost been tempted to jump in & wrestle one in! lol But that just wouldn’t be fishing. So,my question is, what baits or lure have you used that were successful? Any other technique that proved useful? We’re going tomorrow & any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance & happy fishing all!

hi carol if you cook some toast and put it in a polythene bag when its cooling down it goes rubbery then cut it up into inch squares and put your hook through the middle of the crust through the bread until the hook comes out the other side then turn the hook to latch over the edge it will stay on the hook and you can cast it with a drift controller up to a good 80 yards. i use this method on my local lake and fish the far bank where the carp sunbath and generally hang around the pieces of toast with no crust i use as freebees if the wind is in the right direction it drifts to the far bank i also do the same with a loose running bomb so the toast sits on the surface you can also fish into a bay if the wind is blowing into it the fish will follow the freebees right into the bank. otherwise use dog and cat biscuits throw loads in wait until the fish stop checking to see if there are hooks in the bait when the fish are taking several biscuits one after another then its time to cast. the night before you go fishing put a load of biscuits in a poly bag with some water shake well drain the excess water off tie the bag up and shake them several times to stop them sticking together this way the biscuits will hook straight onto your hook they should be light and fluffy and not too wet. carp also love dog and cat meat . all of the above are very good and work very in the evenings
