What type of line should be on spinning reels??? What type of line should be on baitcasting reels???
I bass fish. Either mono or flouro for spinning and baitcasting?

l use regular nylon mono on all of mine. both spinning and BC.
4,6 and 8 on the spinning reels and 8,10 and 12 on the majority of my baitcasters.
use a quality mono. l like maxima ultragreen, sufix stealth and silver thread. but there are other ones equally good. l have just had the best results personally with these.

:)

Where can I buy the film reels that are used in the projection of theater movies, after the movie is no longer available for viewing?

I am not sure if they will actually sell these, because they usually make their money out of renting them to cinemas and you could undercut them. However, you could try the nearest office of the company distributing the movie - Fox, Universal etc.

You are aware that you will not actually be able to show the film unless you have a specialised projector?

I got that AOA Dvd Ripper….but I dont want clips from the movie….I want the Blooper Gag Reels from the speical features on the DvD menu….how do you do that?

You should change a dvd ripper.
There is a freeware, you can try to use it, if you are not happy you have not lost anything.

I’ve used many of both and I can’t seem to tell why one might be better for different types of applications. I’ve heard that baitcasting reels are better for heavier crankbaits and swimbaits, but is this true?

A quality reel can greatly improve your casting distance and accuracy, whether it is baitcast reel or spinning reel, it will make fishing a lot more fun.

LOW-PROFILE BAITCAST REELS are favored more by expericenced bass fishermen. Such are the Abu Garcia Revos, Daiwa Excelers and others. These reels are contoured to fit the hand, making them extremely comfortable to use. Low-profile baitcast reels have fast retrieve ratios and are well-suited to fishing spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits and topwater lures. The more expensive models features more sophisticated braking systems to reduce backlashes.

SPINNING REELS in the other-hand have a larger diameter spool and a smooth drag system. Such reels are Daiwa Exceler 1500, Abu Garcia Cardinal, Pflueger Medalist and others. Due to their superior ability to handle light lines, spinning reels excel in clear waters, making them an ideal choice of many anglers here in southern California. Many anglers use spinning reels spooled with 6-10 pound flourocarbon line paired with a stiff rod for finesse fishing soft plastic lures.

Both reel styles have their pros and cons. Baitcast reels, while prone to backlash, are more accurate than the spinning reels. The spinning reels can cast light lures farther than the baitcast reels but can cause line twist.

For me the medium action is the all round rod and reel. I can catch almost anything besides heavy catfish and muskie. The light can catch trout except for the 8lb+ ,bullheads, suckers, and panfish

Quite possibly because of the way they are made. (Most) of today’s graphite rods are made by wrapping carbon fibers around a mandrel,
then a "hoop" - either fiberglass or graphite is wound inside the blank. It is then pressure cured with epoxy resins. The smaller diameter the blank, the more labor intensive and precise it has to be.

I don’t seem to be able to find a device that can copy these reels.

The machines that do this sort of digitizing are quite expensive - over $1000 - see http://www.retrothing.com/2005/10/digitizing_movi.html

There are other options though. The problem of course is that you do not have any sort of analogue output off of the projector - other than the projected image.

Two ways you can do this depending on the quality you want:

1. Send your films to a company that specialises in digitizing film such as http://www.digitalpickle.com/film.shtml - the prices are fairly reasonable if the movies are important to you.

2. Option 1 will give you the best quality to be sure, but another option would be to set up your projector (assuming you have one) and project onto a good screen. Set up a tripod with a digital video camera and record the projected movie. With the proper set-up you can actually do a pretty good job of capturing the movie this way.

Hope that helps.

I am in the planning stages of starting this theater up and the only problem I’m having is how I get movie reels to play in the screening rooms without violating copyright laws. I would much rather own a few films that I could rotate rather than rent from the distributor. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, that might be slightly difficult. You would have to contact the studio that owns the film to see what their policy is. Theaters nowadays pay studios a percentage of what they earn. They also return the film for recycling so there isnt a huge cost. The difficult part is that you want to OWN the film so that means the studio won’t be getting anything back in return after you pay the initial fee. I assume you would be charging people to watch so you would start making money off the studios property. I’m pretty sure the studio won’t let you do that.
Another thing to think about is do you have a good projector. If you are talking about film that means you would have to get a 35mm film projecter. They arnt exactly cheap and they take some training. If you were to go digital it would depend on what you are doing. You cant use a DVD player and just play discs becuase if you did charge people, that would be illegal. Theater quality movie projecters are still very expensive, running about 70-80 grand.

Sorry to be so negative but these are the problems I see popping up. The only theaters that ive seen play old classics just have them for a few week before returning them. It can be expensive to print up new film for old movies so distributers just send the same print around the country for theaters to rent.

I have 6 differant reels

each reel has a a series of number on it like 4lb-250….the amount of line a reel holds depends on the line dia expressed as in this case 4lb line the second number is yards……but keep in mind unless your trolling you only use less than 100yrds anyway…..so the bottom 150 yrds can be the cheap stuff…and the top line the better quality line.

I want to buy my boyfriend an open faced reel that will take lead core. I’ve been looking them up and I’m so confused. I want to get a good quality one that is $150 or less. If anyone has any personal experience or suggestions please speak up! thank you!!
I looked at the basspro shop reviews and such but was really overwhelmed, so please just personal reviews

Shimano TLD 25: Nice open face trolling reel.

(You could find those reels for under $150 shipped on eBay)

Penn Special Senator 113H 4/0: This reel is a classic that’s been put through the test of time.
http://www.boatersworld.com/product/478381775.htm
(Rod and reel combo was a much better buy. The reel alone cost about the same as the combo. The only difference is that the reel in the combo does not come with a box; some sellers would not give you the tool and a little tube of grease that come with the reel as well. The tool is around $10.)

Daiwa 400H: Very solid reel. It was similar to Penn Senator 4/0 in terms of performance and size.
(You could find this reel for around $120 if you look hard enough)

When you mentioned open faced reels, I automatically assumed that you’re looking for powerful reels that could hold a lot of line and have high retrieve ratios. Lead core lines aren’t always thin in diameter so a large spool is always a plus. It is not uncommon that you’ll have a lot of line out when trolling lead core lines. Reels with a high retrieve ratio are much easier on the user because less cranking is needed to retrieve the line. These are the basic qualities to look for in an open face lead core reel.

All reels above will match the description. The retrieve ratio might not sound too impressive on paper but the actual retrieve speed is a lot faster due to large diameter spools.
