The lake I fish is full of trout and Kokanee. I do not really like stocker trout so I put most of them back. I just would like to be able to identiy the kokanee by something other than "more than 12 anal ray fins…"

Got three different links, hope it helps ya’ out ;)!?

I live in the north woods of wisconsin about 44 degrees north by latatude. I am aiming for self sufficiency and am looking for a way to raise trout either brook or rainbow for my wife and I to eat. Ive heard of doing it in a swimming pool but havent been able to find any information on how. A how to for this kind of small system would be appreciated.

http://www.motherearthnews.com/Organic-Gardening/1983-09-01/Small-Scale-Trout-Farming.aspx

There is quite a bit of info on trout farming on the web. Above is just one. You might also contact your County Extension agent. He/she might have info, but for certain has access to the state university experts who can also help you along…not only of the fish, but also other aspects of establishing a self sufficient lifestyle in your area.

We are going camping soon and plan to have a few trout to eat.
WOW! great start. Thanks.

TROUT ALMONDINE

8 to 12 trout fillets
Milk to cover
2 tsp. salt
4 drops Tabasco
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. olive oil

Soak fillets in a mixture of milk and Tabasco sauce for several hours. Season flour with 1 teaspoon salt and pepper. Remove fillets from milk as needed and dip in flour, shaking off excess flour. In an electric skillet at 375 degrees, fry fillets until golden brown in the butter and oil. Do a few at a time, and as cooked place on a warm platter or cookie sheet and keep warm in the oven until ready to serve. These may be kept in a warm oven up to 3 hours.

SAUCE:

1 c. butter
1/2 c. almonds, sliced
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. parsley, chopped

Prepare sauce by melting butter and lightly browning almonds in butter. Add lemon juice, Worcestershire, salt and parsley. Mix and heat well. Just before serving, pour some sauce over trout and serve remaining sauce separately. If the sauce is made ahead of time, add the almonds at the last minute so they will remain crunchy.

STUFFED TROUT

Seasonings:

Pepper

STUFFING:

1 box UNCLE BEN’S® long grain and wild rice mix
1/2 lb. breakfast sausage
1 med. green pepper
1 med. onion
2 plum tomatoes
1/3 lb. mushrooms

Prepare rice mix according to package directions.
In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage until browned through, cutting it into small pieces with spatula as sausage cooks. Remove sausage.

Dice the vegetables. Add the onion, green pepper and mushrooms to the remaining grease, cooking until onions turn clear. Drain grease, add the rice and tomatoes. Stir.

Rub the trout inside and out with the seasonings. Stuff the trout with the rice and vegetable mixture. Cook in a preheated 325 F. oven about 35-40 minutes or until trout separates easily from bone with a fork.

BACON WRAPPED TROUT

3/4 c. melted butter
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 lb. trout
1/2 lb. bacon

What campground has the best trout fishing in Pennsylvania?

Check out the Cherry Springs State Park in Potter County (aka: God’s Country). It’s in the north/central area of the state. It is a rustic campground, there is no running water or electricity on their camp sites. There is excellent trout fishing right in the park, you could camp along the stream and there are over 1,000,000 acres of undeveloped land in the county. If they aren’t biting in the park itself, you can take a reasonable ride to many other streams.

I spent a week there last year. The first day I caught, cleaned and (stupidly) stored my daily limit of fish in a hollow tree stump with some ice on the edge of our campsite. The following morning the fish were gone but there were plenty of fresh bear tracks around the stump.

i never caught rainbow trout before only catfish and bass
i wanna catch one in lake mead but i don’t know how to catch them what them. what is the best bait or something to get some trout??? or what ever big fish in lake mead?

I think it is easier to catch them in the river below the dam. that’s where I have caught them, anyway. Use spinners, velveeta cheese, worm, powerbait, etc.

You probably have to rent a boat to do very well.

I recently moved to the Seattle area. I am not much of a fisherman, but I would like to try it. Where is a good place to fish for trout and to get the equipment?

Try Meridian Lake. It’s located about two miles east of Kent right off hwy 516. Lake Meridian holds Rainbow trout as well as Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass a variety of Spiny Rays and Catfish. Trolling small flatfish or popgear will work well for the Rainbow trout. Fishing from the public dock using a power bait and a sliding eggsinker will work also. For the bass try casting a dark colored crankbaits. Lake Meridian is open year around.

exactly what it sounds like.
our fishing guide showed us the easiest way to kill and gut the fish.
