What do I look for, what should i do with it, I am 17 years old and my dad wants me to cook a trout. he said go online and find out how. any help?

How To Filet Trout

Ingredients: A good filet knife

Directions:
Clean the fish. Then make two cuts down each side of the spine from the top all the way to the tail. Do not cut all the way through the fish, just the skin.

Cut the spine in half under the gill, put your filet knife under the spine, go all the way to the tail and cut the spine out of the fish.

Starting at the top of the fish, put the filet knife just under the rib bones and make sure that you can see your knife through the skin. Cut back toward the tail, making sure you do not go too deep into the trout.

Baked Trout (whole)
Serves: 2

Ingredients:
1 whole trout 3-4 lb
1 tin of whole peeled tomatoes in juice
1 onion
1 clove of garlic
Salt & pepper
Basil
Tarragon
White wine
Corn flower

Directions:
Clean trout , place in baking dish , if you have a baking dish large enough leave head and tail on.

Rub salt into the gut cavity . Put the tomatoes , onion and garlic (sliced fine) , basil , tarragon and pepper into the cavity.

Pour a glass of wine over the trout , then cover entire dish with tin aluminum foil, poke some small holes in foil.

Pre heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Place baking dish in the middle of the oven and cook for 40 minutes.

Captain’s Trout Filets
Serves:6
Ingredients: 6 trout filets (about 1/2 lb each)
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup melted fat or oil
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco sauce
Paprika

Directions:
Combine ingredients, except paprika, in a small bowl.
Place the filets in a greased, hinged wire grill or on skewers. Baste fish with sauce and sprinkle with paprika.

Cook about 4 inches from hot coals for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Baste frequently. Sprinkle with paprika when serving.

Grilled Trout
Serves:2
Ingredients:
Gutted Trout (entrails removed)
Butter
Seasoning
Minced Garlic (optional)
Aluminum Foil
Directions:

Place one headless trout on a sheet of aluminum foil, Insert several slices of butter and seasoning inside the trout, add minced garlic is desired, wrap trout in foil so it’s sealed, cook trout over hot coals or an open flame. Cook for approximately 5-7 minutes on each side, cooking time will vary depending on temperature, remove from heat.
Open foil and allow several minutes to cool, hold trout and flake off one side fillet from bone. Turn trout over and repeat. All bones should be removed by using this method.

I live in New Jersey But want to become a trout guide in either montana,colorado,idaho, or wyoming. How do i go about it do i have to take any classes in college? Thanks

fish fish and fish and read all you can about fishing, join fishing forums and begin to exchange information and make contacts. Start taking out newbie friends or co-workers when you fish, get used to explaining things to people. Its one thing to fish its another to teach someone how to fish, you better know your stuff.

They offer a great program and help with placements and you should have some contacts from the message boards that might be able to help you out.

When they stock a lake with trout, how long before the trout start actively feeding and can be caught? I know that for many other species of fish, they go into shock for awhile after being moved and won’t eat for days sometimes until they get more settled in. I’ve also heard that stocked trout hit artifical lures better than bait immediately after stocking but, in the days following, they like bait better. Same questions for catfish. Thanks.

When I stock my farm, its always "just depends". I’ve had rainbow trout and catfish eat floating fish food the same day they were stocked. (Especially the trout since they are such voracious eater if the water temp is cold). I’ve also had them take up to three whole days to "come on food."

I would say that shock, acclimation and stocking rates all have input on when they start eating. In my catfish ponds, if I stock low, I might not see them eat store bought food for a couple of weeks, but that is due to there being ample natural forage in the pond and no "feeding pressure" on them to trigger a natural feed response. When I stock extra heavy in a pond, they go through the natural forage real fast and "come on feed" almost immediately.

Temperature also has a lot to do with it. Above 60, trout won’t feed heavy. Below 50 catfish won’t feed as much.

i am planning on taking a trip with my dad the and would like to go fishing in northern colorado. i would like to be able to have the possibility to catch some bigger trout and have the solitude to go with it. any ideas?

Please no people insulting me for playing runescape. I am currently fishing at shilo village and I was wondering how many trout and salmon you catch an hour at shilo at level 92 fishing? Thanks.

Since your at Shilo Village and you save time banking instead of dropping (for free to players who power fish), you’d almost fish around 1k – 1.5k trout and salmon per hour. That’s just my estimation of how fast I caught trouts and salmon, but if you get a correction, feel free to let me and everyone else know.

In Colorado, a 20-year effort to restore the population of an endangered native trout has floundered because the wrong fish were being stocked in the waterways. A 3-year study by the University of Colorado revealed the problem recently.

Is there hope for the greenback cuttthroat trout and our endangered species when the government mismanages our resources in this fashion?
