Check out baby name websites. Usually you can search by male or female, or origin of name. It can help to give you ideas about your characters, too! For example, it could add depth to give a weak, struggling character on his heroe's journey a name bigger than himself, such as one that means 'god's lion.'
References :
Baby name websites, just scroll through and pick up ones you like! That's what I do.
References :
I borrow parts of names from wherever I'm lucky. I once borrowed some last names from a classical music album. i also got first names from names from other books. Ayn Rand wouldn't be able to sue me if I borrow the name Veronique from one of her books, since it's only a first name, and can come from anywhere. Get names from clippings of magazines, people who resemble the character, food wrappers, street signs, pet names, and anything with something that sounds like a person's name on it. In fact, the name Johnny Quest was rumored to come from random names from the phone book! You could always try to get symbolic and whatnot, but I say, keep it simple.
References :
What you could do is go on Google and type in "Popular x names". X would be the country that your play is based in. And with the last nakmes It's common sense. Hernandez is not an italian name
