What are decent suburbs to live in charters towers, qld?

There are no ‘suburbs’, decent or otherwise, in Charters Towers. It is a small, hot, steamy, relatively isolated, insulated, redneck town 130-140km west of Townsville. Why anyone would want to live there mystifies me.
To live there you must own a ute, a baseball cap, a cattle dog, and a Jack Daniels t-shirt. Oh, and you must hate native animals, especially flying-foxes.
