I was told chrome and nickel lures reflect light less efficiently than silver. Also silver reflects light "white" while the others reflect a distorted color. So how does gold reflect as opposed to brass?
Gold is to brass as Silver is to nickel.
The gold plated lures give off a gold flash that is much brighter than brass. Gold and silver ideally reflect 99%+ of the light that hits them. Silver is a white metal and brad spectrum reflector providing a white light. Gold is in the orange yellow spectrum and also efficiently reflects infra- red. Polished chrome reflects maybe 88-90% of the light. Nickle and brass are in the 75-90% range and will turn dark in several feet of water.

Gold is flashier while brass would be a more subtle flash. The main thing to think of is what baitfish you are trying to imitate to match the forage that is available to the species you are fishing for.

I think you’re thinking WAY to much about it. They aren’t that picky. I think you’ll find a practised retrieve will do more than gold or platinum on a lure. Not trying to sound condescending but they’re just fish.

I don’t know that there would be much of a difference.

There is not that much of a difference to it. I love to fish, and I use both colors, and they the same fish bites on both colors. And remember fish are not that picky when they are hungry :-). But if I had to choose, then I would choose Gold. Good luck!
