heres what i used
any wood i have laying around
a wood lathe
sandpaper
small eye screws
split rings
any paint
2 ton epoxy (not 5 minute epoxy)
treble hooks

im gunna say 90% of fish are attracted to shiny things, bass also are, if your making these lures im sure you can mix glitter in with the epoxy and have some shiny reflective lures, that would work well, thanks for the comment!

most people use basswood and balsa wood bass wood is heavier and balsa is lighter more of a topwater

i appreciate that very much, and i iknow what im doing with the lathe, but its not that hard really, if you screw up a little bit you still should be able to salvage the lure, and i waiting to get a drum sander and more plexi glass so i can make lips, but yes i am going to make a diving shad, im just busy with baseball right now so i kinda have to make time haha, but thanks! haha, yeah. I was just wondering if you had any preference in paint or wood. How much practice does it take to be proficient with a lathe? It looks like you’re pretty good with one.
I’m definitely going to start making my own lures. This is the best “how to” video about lure making on Youtube. I’ll be waiting for the next one. I’d like to see a diving shad.

personally i just …
personally i just use what ever wood that i have laying around, and im pretty sure you can use any paint you want because you will cover the whole lure in epoxy after, so it wont chip and all that good stuff. Didn’t you watch the video? haha

there are smaller ones that sell for around 200 dollars, those are good for fish lures. im iin high school and i just borrowed this lathe from the woodshop for the summer, and im planning on making a full size baseball batt also!
