What are your recommendations for the best lures for Musky, Bass, and Pike.?
29.September, 2009
I need your suggestions and recommendations for the best lures you know of (and I mean name and brand) for Muskie, Bass, and Pike. I currently have Zara Spooks, Thunderstick, Rapala surface skimmer, daredevil, Yozuri Popper, Buzzbait, plastic worms, and Wild Eye baby bass. My usual spot is muddy waters, usually sunny but sometimes great overhead is available. Im going to the store tommorow, so thats why I’m asking. Lures and colors?
Oh I also have 3 Algia Mepps, 1 Muskie Killer, and Magnum Muskie Killer
And a couple spinners.. deep diving and shallow diving crankbaits as well.
you got a nice selection there for bass and a couple lures for pike.
things for bass i would add to your collection are…
senkos (any color works great)
yum buzzfrogs (watermelons, pumpkin colors)
spinnerbaits (orange/green, junebug, black, chartruese, red)
for pike i would add…
wild eye baby pike
6-8 inch jointed rapala (firetiger, perch, pike colors work great)

The BEST lure you can use for Large Mouth is just a 10" scented purple worm.

It’s hard to beat a big bucktail spinner such as a Mepps muskie killer or giant killer for muskie and big pike.

Buzzbaits and Canadian Wiggler Rattlers would be my preference in muddier waters.

If you are referring to one lure good for all three fish, I would use your Mepps Musky Killer. The darker the water the brighter the color choices.

Personally, I love Strike King spinnerbaits for all three. It allows you to cover a good amount of water quickly. Like Sexy Bass said, brighter colors are definitely best for your situation.

One of the best and most exciting baits to use is a jitterbug. This is a surface bait which makes rapid poping sounds and can be realed slowly. It is a very active bait and when a fish hits you will be very excited by a big splash. I caught lots of 17-18 in. bass and 25 in pike on this bait and 1 40 in. musky and ive only used it for about 2 months. Run it above weeds that are at the most 1 foot below the surface. If u dont catch anything on this bait I want u to tell me. Good luck!!

Ive used it religiously!
