Where can I buy the film reels that are used in the projection of theater movies, after the movie is no longer available for viewing?

I am not sure if they will actually sell these, because they usually make their money out of renting them to cinemas and you could undercut them. However, you could try the nearest office of the company distributing the movie - Fox, Universal etc.

You are aware that you will not actually be able to show the film unless you have a specialised projector?

Not usually. Those are property of the studios and go back to them once the theaters are done showing them.
