It is a sensitive situation and you better handle it with care. You have mentioned that this colleague's inability to work has made your work suffered, I think you should documented it first. Documented what you have done for this colleague and if the situation has not improved over a period of one or two weeks, you should have a informal chat with your direct superior, if that is the senior management, then talk to them. Apparently, you do not want to be seen as a non team player, if the colleague really had something happened to his family or himself, you want to be sensitive to see him through those. Senior management will appreciate someone who is sensitive to others but at the same time not causing inefficiency to the company. So, try your best to know that situation and document the extra work you had done....speak up when you need to but definitely from the point of the company not just that you are handling more work! Best of luck!
References :
You need to speak up before it to late. It not fair to you for your work to suffer over some one else sorriest!! I am sure after you talk to your boss, he will watch this person and see for his self how he not doing his job. Good Luck'''
References :
If your work suffers because he isn't getting his done then try and see what management can do for you. Maybe put you on a project that doesn' involve him. Another thing is that you can go to the managers and tell them that he's not pulling his weight and that every time you go to him about it he complains about family, physical problems. Tell them that it's making your work suffer because you depend on him doing his job and that you don't want your work to suffer. Management would be understandable and you might be able to work something out with them. However, depending on what he does it may not. Another thing management could do is suggest that he gets some help. Most employmenets have mental health days or mental health help under their insurance which could be an option if he is getting depressed. Just don't forget that this is problem happen frequently so your bosses need to know that as well. If you can document it that makes your case stronger like you went up to him on monday wed and fri to get his work done but he complained and didn't do anything about it.
