What kind of rope should I use in a block and tackle?
27.July, 2009
I am doing a 3rd floor renovation and I built a block and tackle to raise and lower equipment, trash, etc. The rope that I bought was cheap but it keeps getting bunched and twisted. What is the right kind of rope to use in this device?
Braided rope is your best bet, but not the cheap stuff. Go to a place that sells rope for boats and get the good stuff. It won’t be cheap but will be much safer and easier to use than poor quality rope which is pretty much all you get in building supply stores. While you’re buying it, get a quick lesson on how to treat rope properly. Looking after it will prolong its life and help prevent tangles.
