Can you catch stocked trout on a frozen lake if you break the ice?

There is a lake that has stocked trout, but the lake is now frozen over about 3.5 inches thick. Can you catch stocked trout on a frozen lake if you break the ice? If you break some ice and fish in that area will the trout bite anything? Or is it best to wait till the ice is melted?

    What do you think all the ice fishing shacks are for? The hole is dug inside so you can sit down out of the wind and drink your beer while fishing.

    Yes, but an auger would help you break the ice :)

    Yes, but you would need a lot of line because the fish are going to be near the bottom.
