    I’ve only just started fishing and so far have let my friends take the fish home. This is a simple way to clean trout which I’ve seen on other videos. I’m looking for an easy way to filet them too.

    Eh I dislike people …
    Eh I dislike people who make comments like that. It is like saying, a bear couldn’t kill without its teeth and claws. So we use weapons, that’s what being human is all about. We have the mind to build tools, and we use tools. To use tools is to be human, so if I use a gun which is a tool made by human hand its no more different then a bear using its claws.

    I’ve watched quite a few videos on gutting a fish and this is by far the the best one that I’ve seen. Very simple, efficient and without the “eww” and “yuck” comments that the other folks on here tend to add.

    If couId could eat …
    If couId could eat beef, I would. But I can’t, yet I fish. Beef is high in purines. If I feel like walking tommorow, I can’t eat it. Trout is actually pretty high in purines also but it’s tollorable. Don’t be so jaded about what other people do or don’t do and be more concerned with what other people are trying to do – to you.

    i think thats more of a health thing, I eat beef but my friend thinks its unnatural, like a human without weapons wouldn’t hunt a cow with his bare hands but maybe a fish. I however like eating cows

    Don’t see why everyone is arguing that this is inhumane. What’s worse IMO is stringing a fish up and leaving it to die slowly on a line while you continue to fish or to suffocate it by leaving it in a freezer.

    I know your fishing guide knows what he’s doing, but as a professional chef I feel the urge to say always watch for that thumb in the gills, it is in the way of that sharp blade cuting up.

    Very nice, Tried it on a 22 in. trout but it didn’t work then i caught a small golden trout and it worked perfect. Since i now know how to, this is the only technique i will use. Thanks

    I would guess that they don’t feel pain like we do. I’m a pretty rugged guy but if someone put a hook through my lip or jaw and pulled on it, I’m going to go wherever they lead me. We put a hook through a fish’s lip or jaw and they pull the opposite direction with everything they’ve got. Yes, they probably feel pain but not like we do. I see trout get swallowed whole by birds to be digested alive. This is a normal end for them. We kill them quicker and with less suffering than the birds do.
