where can I trout fish at in southern california?

I wana do some stream fishing for trout when I come out, and I will be staying near San Bernadino. Kinda wana get in the mountains somewhere near there. So if anyone knows of anywhere that would be great.

Laguna Niguel Lake is stocked weekly and I have been very happy there. Just be sure and go during the week and get out there early. Good Luck

    Try the Azusa Canyon. There are not a lot of year round flowing rivers in the San Bernandino’s. Depending on the time of year you can also fish Green Valley and Big Bear Lake.

    It’s been a long time since I’ve lived there, but I don’t think you will find any streams in that neighborhood that will support trout (or any other game-fish).
    Instead, try Silverwood Lake or yes, Big Bear is OK too, but Silverwood would be my first pick…. at least several years ago. If you get out to the other side of Riverside, try Lake Perris too.

    If its fly fishing you want then i would advise on these firstly have a read of tips as it suggests some good venues and some great tips

    A little bit of advice here and that is if your a beginner you should stick to the smaller less fierce rivers and not the fast flowing ones.

    Stream fishing is kind of a tough one in in So. Cal. Varies greatly from year to year depending on rain fall. The only trout stream I am aware of in the San Bernardino Mtn. is Bear Creek and I believe that it is a catch and release and a Fly fishing reserve now. Don"t have much more info, as I haven’t been up there for a while. Big Bear Lake would be my first choice, some really quality fish come from there. Silverwood has some good fishing but it is known for Strippers so any trout put there usually end up as a happy meal for them. Azusa Canyon, as mentioned, and the two forks of the San Gabriel river can be good depending on water flow. On one of the forks there is a good population of wild fish, just don’t remember which. Hope this helps.

    Depends on how far you want to go……I always made time to go to the sierras for trout fishing……and it’s freakin gorgeous…..it’s about 4 to 5 hours away. There are a few rivers and lakes nearer you, but I’m not that familiar with the southern part of the state.
